Jef Verswyvel began his model building career when he received a model kit from his parents on his 6th birthday. One hour later the kit was finished, painted and decaled...!

In the late 70's he started to take his super detailes models to contests and won may awards and national and international recognition.

During the 80's and part of the 90's he was employed as pattern maker by a famous Belgian model company where he got the opportunity to skill himself even further.

In 1995 he moved from his native country (Belgium) to the USA to become part of Kendall Model Company.

A few years later, together with his dear friend Warren C. Munkasy, they founded V.M.D. Studios, Inc., better known as "Black Box". He received worldwide recognition for his highly detailed cockpit sets. Thanks to the idea of yet another close friend, Lonnie Berry, the "Jet sets" became Black Box's speciality.

Jef resides with his wife Maggie in Rowlesburg, West Virginia.
